Random stuff I'm not really hearing. |
] |
So I was surfin' around my favourite adult Roleplaying forum and one of the ladies has a cute logo as her avatar. I found it rather amusing. It was this:

Funny right? But then I got thinking... What about one for the guys? Only fair, right? But suddenly, my mind snapped, 'No, that would be sexist!' And then I thought about it some more... Isn't THAT already pretty sexist? Or are we so used to boy-bashing that we don't see it anymore?
Seriously, most of the guys I know would take a look at this and laugh, getting the joke. But if you reverse it, with a girl in a collar, the uproar would never end. And it's not all women, in fact, it's not even the majority that would be upset, but the 'feminists' (Not the real ones, the ones that can be called 'Feminazis', a rather loud sub-sect that use the smallest reason to blow any percieved slight against their gender, real or imagined out of proportion against men, usually successfully) would be all over it.
When has being a Straight White Male become a bad thing? Did I miss the memo? You'd think that something this big would be passed around...
And is the sort of message we should be sending children? I was looking around for a counterpart picture, and I came across an article. childadvocate.org/1f_antiboyattitude.htm Now, I haven't really read it because, personally, sites like this tend to overreact and get all alarmist. But... The images are from a series of girl's T-Shirts, which are apparently the company's best selling line. That saddens me, and those images are, to me, a tad much. They can put that much hate into shirts for little girls, and get away with it?
Maybe, I'm a freak. I've never really been one to ride the coat tails of any of the 'fads'. I remember my early school days, when boys thought girls were 'icky' or had 'germs', I used to be confused about it, actually, I still am. And as I do now, if I don't understand the reasoning behind it, I don't follow it. Which is what I did back when I was 7-11. Hell, I had a girl I used to walk home with, but we were just friends. Although she went through the 'boys are icky' phase from time to time. Confusing the living hell out of me. But it would only happen once a week, or so. And I admit I did do the 'girls are icky' thing, but if she was waiting to go home, I'd happily walk with her, completely forgetting I was supposed to dislike girls. So maybe, I'm the wrong type of person for this.
But you know what? I want a counterpart. With a Boys Rule logo, a girl on her knees and leashed, and FUCK YOU those of you who get upset.
In fact, I want one with TWO guys and TWO girls, for the Gays and Lesbians. Why should they be left out?
End of Line.

Utada Hikari - Passion |
] |
Not that anyone really reads this outside of maybe... One person, but I had to relate this.
So, I'm down to the last three bucks out of my $40 monthly food budget (Snerk) and I decide I want some chips. And so I go to my local Loblaws with a neighbour. Now, during this time we're joshing around and I'm, as always repeating silly little things I read over the internet (Because I'm not that funny normally anyway.) And apparently, we were being stalked by this older woman for some reason. I dunno, but I spotted her in the three rows we were wandering around. Anyway, so finally we get to the cashier, some kid, and my neighbour calls me a jerk, joking as he always does. I turn to him and say, "Nah, if I was I'd've said something like this: 'Women are like parking spots, all the good ones are taken, and the free ones are handicapped.'" Which by the way is another sexist and mysogynistic one liners I picked up off the internet, not something I believe in. But for whatever reason the stalker lady, who was JUST behind us, gets all affronted and says loudly, making sure the entire store can hear... (Well, OK, I exaggerate, but not by much, I'm pretty sure the meat counter was listening in) "You really ARE a jerk!"
To wit, I come up on the spot, "No, Ma'am, if I were, I'd be gettin' laid."
Wow! I made a funny. The cashier was trying REALLY hard not to laugh, while the oldster in front of me gave us a grin, and the lady, well, I ignored her from then on, so I'm not sure what her reaction was, not that I cared, I just wanted her out of my conversation.
But y'know what? It's not really... I didn't find it funny then and I still don't. It's actually kind of sad at just how true that statement is. If it was just the screw ups and losers that get stuffed here in the YM/YWCA, then I could dismiss it, but everywhere I go, I hear these horror stories about So-and-so's significant others are lazy/cheated/useless so on and so forth, usually by the offended woman... It really makes me sad. And it's on the buses, on the street, over the cellphones... Hell, during my brother's wedding there was another bunch of people, and one woman was especially bitter than there was a wedding taking place when she just went through a divorce. That made me feel wonderful...
Oh well, c'est la vie.
End of Line.

Really. Ms. Rowling didn't make it up on the spot to get more controversial! Really! He's been gay all along.
Yeah right.
So Ms. Rowling is finding out something, her shocker isn't much of one. More like: "What took you so long to mention it???"
Again, probably because the popularity of her stuff has started to wane, and she needed something to spruce it up.
Apparently, she can't live without the attention she's been getting.
And after reading the first book, Mr. Terry Pratchett is right, though. She's nothing new, she's as generic as they come. Everything she's done or used in the story isn't something I haven't seen before in some shape or form.
Well, blows my mind on how something so bland can garner so much attention.
Then again, it does prove my point. No one wants 'originality' or 'innovation'.

1. What's the dorkiest (by conventional standards) thing you've ever willingly done in public?
I have little shame, so I probably do lot's of dorky things. Uh... Relate to people in gaming terms. Specifically D&D ones.
2. Have you ever blown off a social engagement in favor of online gaming?
No, I've done the opposite actually.
3. Can you quote Monty Python at will?
Actually? No, I know very little outside the Dead Parrot Sketch.
4. Which do you prefer, the 2007 Transformers movie or the original G1 cartoon?
That's a toughie. Both are rather good in their own way... Hmm. I'll say G1, just for nostalgia reasons.
5. Have you ever done something so dumb (in your opinion) that you were still looking back and wincing years after the event?
Yes, and I'll never talk of it. Ever.

Take the quiz at dicepool.com
Question 11) Warrior, Valkyrie, Mage, or Elf?
"Blue Warrior needs Green Valkyrie badly."
I actually have a story for that one. I did use that EXACT LINE on the cute sister of my then best friend who WAS in fact playing Green and the Valkyrie. And yes, I was playing the Blue warrior.
Her reply predictably was, and I actually matched her word for word on it:
"Blue Warrior is about to die."
Ah, 14 years old. What hell.
I expect to see other's replies.

The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are romantic (86%), horny (69%). | | | Stereotypes | | Punk Rock | 53% | | Old Geezer | 50% | | White Trash | 45% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 42% | | Substances | 3% | | Travel | 12% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom you agree with around 83% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Working Class. You make more than 36% of those who have taken this test, and 86% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13. By the way, your hottness rank is 45%, hotter than 9% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite

First of all, a disclaimer, because frankly I'm sick and tired of getting hassled for having an opinion, popular or not. If you don't agree with me, that's perfectly fine. If you find it somehow offensive, think of something happy and call me an idiot or whatever cranks your turn at night. But this is what I think so if you don't like it, do something else with your time, something that you would rather do.
Onto the thought.
Something I've noted about 'us' artists. Something that I've never really noted myself having.
A muse. Some even have more than one. I sat back and did some thinking on this, and I may have over-thought on this, but I've come to the personal conclusion that I don't like. And that I don't have one.
I don't like the idea that there's an ephemeral something that's making my 'art' for me. It's a cop out, in my opinion. If I produce something mind-numbingly bad, that's my personal fault for just not being able to make something 'good'. And vice versa, if I make something REALLY nice, then I can say "I did that!" and not have to share the credit with something that's should be me.
Maybe I'm over thinking on this but, that's the conclusion I've come to.
YMMV.
Happy Gaming.

Ending credits to Iron Monkey! |

Alrighty, so here I am watching ALL my HK flicks (A fair amount I have to admit) like Iron Monkey, Hardboiled, and the not-so HK ones like Bulletproof Monk and Replacement Killers, and I've come to realize that my love for the game Feng Shui (By Atlas Games) has never really died.
And I really want to run a game in that system. In fact I after the last 8 hours of doing nothing but watch movies because my back has acting up. (Yay for limited mobility!) I've spent the last 30 minutes looking for my books.
Dammit I so want to run this again! I have plot and ideas and seeds and hopefully a whole campaign. Only two issues, location and well I'm missing the most important ingredient, players.
But I so wanna run this!!!!

Because I've learned the hard way that having an opinion, especially one other people may not like, is going to cause problems, and obviously despite this place being a spot for my thoughts, I am going to refrain from posting anything remotely personal and potentially 'controversial'.
So this is going to be my gaming LJ. But because not everyone even cares about that sort of stuff, I'm going to put tags on it. Read on if you like, and as always, this is just my opinion on these things.

Well, I've notified whom I had to get my issue resolved, I've had all my passwords changed again. I've reinstalled Windows and I've redownloaded Firewall software as well as a Virus Checker...
I still haven't connected the big machine to the internet.
TOO DAMN SCARED. This ISP I'm stuck with uses an static IP, which means as long as I am in this jailcell, I'm stuck with the same address as I got hit with. I can't move out because this is the cheapest room available and I can't afford anything more...
This sucks.
